Choose David Barnes in Manchester and Add to Your Collection
We display beautiful artwork of David Barnes in Manchester at our gallery. Our main focus is the Northern Art genre, and David Barnes is one such artist. This talented artist was born in Africa and lived here in his early years. He was a chartered accountant and spent most of his working life in this field. David Barnes also did work for a number of years as a tutor for the Open University. During this time he ran seminars on financial management on the MBA programme in Europe, the UK and Africa. While interested in art during his school years and an art collector throughout his life, it was only once he retired that he began to paint seriously.
His earliest days of painting were influenced by the works of the Welsh artist Kyffin Williams. In Manchester, David Barnes has a style that is uniquely his own. His interest in the art of the French Impressionists, along with his creative experimentation with paint, has cemented his own distinctive style. The artwork he creates is highly textual. Using a palette knife, he paints in oils and uses a thick impasto technique that produces bold strokes. His paintings have strength and texture, and this provides a sculpture feel to his work. Much of his inspiration is from the mountains of Snowdonia as well as the coastline of North Wales and Anglesey. Along with the painting of the dark brooding colours of the North Wales landscape, this artist is also using more vibrant colours in his paintings of landscapes of Scotland, Cornwall and Ireland.
David Barnes in Manchester also paints still life subjects. If you would like to find out more about David Barnes and his artwork, contact Colourfield Gallery today.
