Smoke & Smog

Dave Hartley has been producing evocative pencil drawings of the Northern industrial landscape for more than ten years.

Influenced by Trevor Grimshaw, Adolphe Valette and Harry Rutherford, Dave Hartley’s work captures the rugged beauty of a lost landscape which was once so commonplace in the towns of Bolton, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale and Stockport.

Hailing from Hyde and now based in Stockport, Dave seeks out remnants of a forgotten time and skillfully immortalises them in a distinctive and unique style of graphite art.

Very much in the ascendancy, Dave Hartley’s original drawings now feature in many private collections.
