Olivia Pilling is a Northern based artist who find’s inspiration for painting in small industrial town landscapes and architecture. Having lived in the same farmhouse in rural North West England throughout her life, it seems only natural to paint the surroundings in which she has been brought up. The rolling hills, valleys, mills and towering chimneys of the landscape come together to form natural abstract shapes and linear lines.
She uses these naturally occuring patterns in the landscape to create painting’s which ride a fine line between spontaneity, with gestural brushstrokes, and calculation and control.
